Finaliza un nuevo ejercicio, el correspondiente a la anualidad 2022, en el que el Centro Tecnológico del Mueble y la Madera -CETEM- ha seguido trabajando intensamente para incrementar el valor añadido de todas aquellas empresas que han decidido contar con nosotros como aliados estratégicos en el indispensable proceso innovador en el que se sustentan las empresas más avanzadas.
Cerramos un año en el que se ha conseguido aumentar muy considerablemente el volumen de negocio, con los mismos recursos humanos, habiendo ganado, por tanto, en eficiencia. Además, el número de proyectos que se han ejecutado también ha sido superior al de períodos anteriore,s destacando aquellos que tienen un carácter europeo, actividad que es, desde hace mucho tiempo, una piedra angular donde se apoya la viabilidad del Centro y que lo ha situado en el mapa internacional de Centros Tecnológicos sectoriales de referencia.
La actividad desarrollada se ha convertido, durante las casi ya 3 décadas de existencia de CETEM, en absolutamente fundamental para la competitividad del sector del hábitat que, en este tiempo, ha sufrido grandes transformaciones para adaptarse a las necesidad que el mercado y las coyunturas económicas han ido demandando. La certificación de producto, la mejora del proceso productivo, la apuesta por la robótica, la incorporación de electrónica y sensórica, los nuevos materiales y la economía circular, la fabricación aditiva o la realidad mixta han sido algunos de los campos en los que se ha trabajado y que han ido calando, cada vez más, en las empresas del sector que, con su conocimiento, han conseguido ser punta de lanza en un sector económico tan competitivo como lo es el del hábitat.
Pero el incremento de actividad ha hecho que la ampliación de las actuales instalaciones aparezca ya como indispensable. Disponer de personal cualificado, especialmente en las áreas de producción, se ha vuelto una prioridad absoluta para el sector y poder contar con un centro de formación con un marcado carácter práctico es tan urgente como indispensable. Además, áreas de CETEM como la electrónica y domótica y los nuevos materiales han experimentado un incremento de actividad tan importante que requieren de una notable ampliación de sus infraestructuras para materializar, con suficientes garantías, la rápida transferencia de los resultados de sus investigaciones a las empresas. En este punto, resulta destacable el gran interés que, en los últimos meses, se ha despertado por la explotación empresarial de los resultados de las patentes que actualmente posee CETEM y, para lo cual, también resulta indispensable contar con unas nuevas instalaciones que permitan un crecimiento que, a todas luces, se producirá en los próximos años.
Contar con un Centro Tecnológico de referencia como CETEM es vital para el desarrollo empresarial hasta el punto de que la competitividad de un sector pivota, en gran medida, en que la alianza entre las empresas y los Centros Tecnológicos sean tan fuertes como fructíferas. Es en esto en lo que trabajamos día a día con el mejor de nuestro talento, que no es otro que las personas que formamos parte de CETEM.

Foreword
A new financial year has finished, the one corresponding to the 2022 annuity, in which the Technological Center for Furniture and Wood -CETEM- has continued to work intensely to increase the added value of all those companies that have decided to count on us as strategic allies in the indispensable innovative process on which the most advanced companies are based.
We close a year in which we have worked to increase the volume of business very considerably, with the same human resources, having therefore gained in efficiency. In addition, the number of projects that have been executed has also been higher than in previous periods, highlighting those that have a European character, an activity that has been, for a long time, a cornerstone where the viability of the Center is supported and that has placed CETEM on the international map of reference sectoral Technological Centers.
The activity carried out has become, during the almost 3 decades of CETEM’s existence, absolutely essential for the competitiveness of the habitat sector which, in this time, has undergone great transformations to adapt to the needs of the market and economic conditions have been suing. Product certification, the improvement of the production process, the commitment to robotics, the incorporation of electronics and sensors, new materials and the circular economy, additive manufacturing or mixed reality have been some of the fields in which worked and that have been penetrating, more and more, in the companies of the sector that, with their knowledge, have managed to be the spearhead in an economic sector as competitive as that of the habitat.
But the increase in activity has made the expansion of the current facilities appear as essential. Having qualified personnel, especially in the production areas, has become an absolute priority for the sector and being able to have a training center with a markedly practical nature is as urgent as it is essential. In addition, CETEM areas such as electronics and home automation and new materials have experienced such an important increase in activity that they require a notable expansion of their infrastructures to materialize, with sufficient guarantees, the rapid transfer of the results of their research to companies. At this point, it is worth noting the great interest that, in recent months, has been aroused by the business exploitation of the results of the patents that CETEM currently holds and, for which, it is also essential to have new facilities that allow a growth that, clearly, will occur in the coming years.
Having a benchmark Technological Center such as CETEM is vital for business development to the point that the competitiveness of a sector pivots, very hardly, on the alliance between companies and Technological Centers, being as strong as they are fruitful. This is what we work on every day with the best of our talent, which is none other than the people who are part of CETEM.
